The Practice fully complies with the Data Protection Act 1998. Under the Act patients have a right to be informed whether personal data about them is being processed and have the right of access to the data. Patients can review the data processed and formal applications for access should be made in writing to the Practice Manager. A fee may be charged for this.
Practice Staff are bound by the same confidentiality rules as Doctors. We comply fully with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Freedom of Information Act 2000. We have an IT Policy in place and only authorised Staff can gain access to the computer system.
The Surgery has a copy of Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities for you to access.
The Practice provides management of care to all our patients who are ill or believe themselves to be ill, with conditions from which recovery is generally expected, for the duration of that condition, including relevant health promotion advice and referral as appropriate, reflecting patient choice wherever practicable. General management of patients who are terminally ill.
The Practice also provides management of care to those patients who suffer from a Chronic Disease, in consultation with the patient. This will also include:
- The Care and Management of Stroke or Transient Ischaemic Attack
- Cancer Care
- Hypothyroidism
- Mental Health
- Epilepsy
We have a variety of Clinics, such as:
- Minor Surgery – All Doctors are qualified to perform minor surgical procedures in a fully equipped room
- Contraception – Dr Iqbal provides contraceptive services and these are the following:
- Implants
- Emergency Morning after Pill
- The Pill
- Natural Family Planning
The Practice Nurse carries a supply of Condoms. Family Planning is provided within the normal surgery hours and this includes advice. - Travel Clinic – The Practice Nurse provides comprehensive advice about overseas travel and vaccination. A charge is made for non-NHS injections. Please ensure you arrange to have your travel vaccinations at least 4 weeks prior to travel.
- Smoking Cessation – The practice offers an in-house Smoke Stop Clinic where support is given on a one to one basis. We can also refer patients to locally provided Smoke Stop group sessions and support.
Non NHS Fees:
Some services are not covered by the NHS and a charge will be made in line with the BMA scale of fees.
These include medical examinations e.g:
- HGV Licence
- Employment medicals
- Driving insurance etc
as well as certain certificates e.g:
- Private insurance claims
- Private sick notes
- Holiday cancellations etc
There is a list of the private fees. Please ask for one at reception.
Chaperone Policy
The surgery is committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment. Therefore we provide a chaperone for patients who require one whilst being examined by the Doctor.
